The Ultimate Tiwi Islands Fishing Experience
Join us on one of our most popular charters! This full-day trip takes you out of Leaders Creek, past the Vernon Islands and the mouth of the mighty Adelaide River, up to the Tiwi Islands, one of the most pristine and scenic stretches of the NT coastline.
Gerard’s 30+ years of NT fishing knowledge means you’ll fish the spots that are firing, targeting the arm-pulling Black Jewfish and our prized table fish, Golden Snapper (Fingermark), along with Cod, Grunter and Salmon.
You don’t need to know where the fish are – that’s our job. Based on the season, tides, and current conditions, we’ll fish the location that gives you the best chance of landing that trophy Snapper or Jewfish, hanging out with turtles and, at the right time of year, spotting a manta ray or two as they swim around the boat.

Prime Tiwi Islands Fishing Year Round
The Tiwi Islands deliver quality fishing in every season. Whether you’re chasing hard-pulling bottom species or the chance at seasonal sport fish, there’s always something biting.
Don’t stress about picking the spot. We’ll confirm the best fishing ground before your tour based on current conditions.
All Year Round
The run out to the Tiwi Islands passes through some of the most untouched water in the Top End, and the fishing holds up no matter when you book. Golden Snapper (Fingermark) are the prize most anglers are chasing – a genuine table fish that pulls hard and tastes even better. Alongside them, Black Jewfish provide some of the toughest fights you’ll find in NT waters, testing your arms as much as your gear.
Round out the day with Cod, Grunter and Salmon, and there’s a good chance of sharing the water with turtles cruising past the boat.
- →Golden Snapper (Fingermark)
- →Black Jewfish
- →Cod
- →Grunter
- →Salmon
Dry Season Bonus
May – October
When the water cools off through the dry, a second layer of fishing opens up on top of the year-round staples. Sport fish move through in bigger numbers, and the sight-fishing gets seriously good. You can experience Queenfish smashing bait on the surface, hard-charging Trevally, and the odd Spanish Mackerel putting your reel to the test. It’s also prime time to spot manta rays around the boat, with groups of up to four seen on some of our trips.
- →Queenfish
- →Trevally
- →Spanish Mackerel
- →Manta ray sightings (seasonal)

Meet Your Guide - Gerard
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you as we explore the Top End’s stunning scenery, abundant wildlife, and world-class fishing opportunities. Whether you’re chasing that fish of a lifetime in Darwin Harbour or heading out to remote NT destinations, I’ll ensure you experience the very best the Territory has to offer.
With over 35 years of Top End fishing experience and 30 years as a Darwin local, I’ve fished all the major river systems and explored most of the NT coastline. My background as a professional photographer means I can also capture those trophy moments for you. After first visiting Darwin on a fishing tour in 1989, I was hooked—literally—and made the permanent move from Victoria in 1996.
I’ll help you plan the perfect trip by recommending the ideal time of year, selecting the best days based on tides and local conditions, and choosing locations that are fishing at their peak as your booking date approaches.
